Physical Exams
Annual Physicals, Sports Physicals, and Immigration Exams
At Medemerge, we offer annual physical exams or routine tests to assess your overall health. The annual physical exam is the ideal time to ask your physician questions about your health or discuss any changes or problems that you may have noticed. We prioritize ensuring that our patients are staying healthy in their everyday lives.
A routine or annual physical exam is a great way to ensure that you stay in good health, and it can also be a preventative step. It allows you to catch up on vaccinations or detect the possibility of a serious condition, like cancer or diabetes, before it becomes difficult to manage. During a routine physical, your doctor can also check vitals, including weight, heart rate, and blood pressure.
General Physical Exams can include:
- Height and weight measurements
- Nose, mouth, throat, and ear examination
- Feeling for the pulse in the person’s neck, groin, or feet
- Checking the body’s reflexes
- Listening to the heart and lungs with a stethoscope
- Measuring blood pressure
- Feeling the lymph nodes in the neck, underarms, or groin
- Feeling the abdomen to check for abnormalities
Annual Physical Exam
For many of our valued patients, the annual physical exam is the cornerstone of preventative health care – a yearly ritual that provides peace of mind and reinforces the doctor-patient relationship that we have worked diligently to uphold. At Medemerge, we want to nurture this relationship and ensure a comforting environment for all of our patients.
School Sports Physicals
At Medemerge, we offer school sports physicals for all of our student-athletes. A student can get a school sports physical completed by one of our health care providers to determine whether the patient can safely start a new sport or a new sports season.
A Sports Physical is done to:
- Determine if you are in good health
- Measure the maturity of your body
- Measure your physical fitness
- Learn about injuries you have now
- Find conditions you may have been born with that could make you more prone to injury
Your doctor may advise on how to protect yourself from injury while playing a sport, and how to safely play with a medical condition or chronic illness. At Medemerge, we encourage the success of all of our student-athletes, but we want to make sure that this success comes from a safe and healthy place. Now let’s get out there and play ball!
Immigration Examination
An immigration medical exam is a necessary part of immigrating to the United States and becoming a permanent resident (Green Card holder). We want to help welcome all of our new patients into the United States in good health. There are certain diseases of public health that would render an individual inadmissible to the United States. This exam serves to screen for these diseases, thereby providing documentation to allow entrance into the US. The medical examination will include a medical history review, physical examination, chest X-ray, and blood tests for syphilis. The physical examination will, minimally, include an examination of the eyes, ears, nose, throat, extremities, heart, lungs, abdomen, lymph nodes, and skin. We will then work with all of our patients to try and correct any medical issues so that they can achieve a clean bill of health so they can begin their new lives in America!
