Diabetes Care

Treating the Whole Person

At Medemerge, we believe in treating the whole person. When it comes to diabetes, that means understanding the signs of diabetes, the causes of diabetes, and what lifestyle changes you can implement into everyday life that will make diabetes more manageable. We work with you to overcome any challenges you may have related to diabetes and the effects it can have on your health. The three main types of diabetes that we help our patients treat are listed below.

  • Type I Diabetes: This type occurs when the body fails to produce insulin. People with Type I diabetes are insulin-dependent, which means they must take insulin daily to stay alive.
  • Type 2 Diabetes: Type 2 diabetes affects the way the body uses insulin. While the body still makes insulin, the cells in the body do not respond to it as effectively as they once did. This is the most common type of diabetes, and it has strong links with obesity and lack of activity and exercise.

Some of the common symptoms and signs of diabetes are as follows:

  • Frequent urination
  • Increased thirst
  • Unexplained weight loss
  • Extreme hunger
  • Presence of ketones in the urine (ketones are a byproduct of the breakdown of muscle and fat that occur when there’s not enough available insulin in the body)
  • Blurred vision
  • Irritability
  • Fatigue
  • Slow-healing sores
  • Frequent infections, such as gums or skin infections

Whether it’s Type 1, or 2, our experienced team of physicians is committed to helping our patients manage their condition and work to find solutions that best suit their needs.
